Zipolite is one of the highlights for a gay or nudist visitor to Mexico. It has Mexico's only genuine nude beach and the whole town is very lgbtq+ friendly. The gorgeous approximately 2 km long beach is fronted by a collection of beachside restaurants and hotels. Nudity is entirely accepted and normal on the entire beach as are displays of warmth between same-sex couples.
The middle sections of the beach though are primarily unbent and primarily clothed. The beach faces almost directly south so you can catch both pretty sunrises and sunsets. At the west end of the beach is El Alquimista hotel and restaurant and Shambala. El Alquimista's beach restaurant is a popular gay gathering spot and the rocks and beach in front are as well. The most gay section (and the most nudist) is Playa del Amor, reached by walking to the far east side of the main beach, wading a small pond depending on the tide and then climbing a stairway up and support down to the small hidde
Best Gay Bars & Clubs in Oaxaca
Oaxaca comes alive at night with sexy bars and bartenders everywhere! For our first queer bar, we decided to hit up Blue 69 in Centro. Actually, that’s not true. After our Mezcal tasting on our first full day here, we were feeling fine and decided to amble a mile and half outside of Centro to La Costa, the top and only gay male strip club in Oaxaca.
It was a Sunday nighttime and there was a quick pat down and no cover. We were escorted to a cocktail table and ordered a bucket of beers. As far as fellow patrons, there was actually a good mix of people, mostly gay, some with girlfriends, and also a straight couple or two. In terms of the entertainment itself, we loved that the dancers strike the stage in complete costume (see featured image). It reminded us of back in the sunlight at Swinging Richards in Atlanta, which is perhaps the best male strip club in the US. After the full monty at La Costa and unlike any strip club we’ve ever experienced, a drag performer comes out next for a number followed by fellow patrons dancing on the stage. When the next dancer
Oaxaca City has long drawn artists and creative minds to her bright, cobbled streets, and just one visit to the enchanting colonial city is all it takes to watch why. Located in South-western Mexico, Oaxaca oozes with old-world charm, pre-Colombian ruins, and fascinating indigenous traditions. What’s more, Oaxaca is considered to be the culinary capital of Mexico, characterised by flavours favor sweet and spicy chocolate, decadent moles, and smooth (but potent) mezcal. Wondering what to do in Oaxaca? The city is safe and best explored at leisure on foot, with ample time for stops at quaint coffee shops and mezcal bars along the way. The most magical hours are early morning when most locals have yet to arise, and after dusk when the Zocalo (Central Plaza) comes alive with lights, sounds and colours. For your definitive Oaxaca gay guide, you’ve arrive to the right place.
