Let’s Talk About Tyler (Minor Spoiler Ahead)
(There’s a minor spoiler about Tyler from the show “Turning Red” so if you don’t wanna here it don’t read any further than this warning. Everyone understands? Cool let’s keep going.)
So I got around to watching Turning Red and honestly it was just ok. The characters were just decent, the comedy was punch or miss and at times pretty cringe but then again they’re in middle school so it wouldn’t be realistic if there wasn’t some cringe. :sweat_smile:
Anyways back to why I’m really writing this post our low antagonist Tyler. He does his job well organism a little jerk and what not but the twist where it turns out he loves teen bands just like our main cast of girls. It was pretty adorable that they welcomed him into group instead of making fun of him. Personally I thought it was a little too sudden but hey I guess kids don’t keep grudges like adults execute. Thankfully they didn’t perform the “bully being a jerk because he likes the main character” trope.

Turning Red fans contemplate that Tyler is same-sex attracted in the new Pixar movie and they are praising the film for its LGBTQ+ representation.
Turning Red's director Domee Shi has let slip that a lot of Tyler's story was cut from the film, following theories that he is gay.
Last week (Mar 11), Turning Red came out on Disney+ and viewers have been praising the film for the clever way in which it acts as a metaphor for puberty. The film tells the story of a year-old Chinese-Canadian girl called Mei who is inflicted by a family curse that turns her into a red panda when she's excited or stressed. She's also obsessed with a boyband called 4*Town.

The Disney brand took a hit following criticism by Pixar employees over the company's refusal to take an overt stance against Florida's controversial "Don't Say Gay" bill, which included allegations the entertainment massive cut depictions of LGBT warmth from Pixar's content.
